ICYMI: “Please, Help Me! My Husband Is Missing” – Wife of Rivers Ex-Head of Service Cries Out

The political crisis in Rivers State took another dramatic turn on Friday as Florence Nwaeke, wife of the state’s former Head of Service, George Nwaeke, made an emotional plea for help regarding her husband’s whereabouts.

Speaking to journalists late in the evening, a visibly distressed Mrs. Nwaeke expressed fear for her husband’s safety, stating that she had lost contact with him after he traveled to Abuja.

“When he got to Abuja, he called that he had landed. I said, ‘Thank God,’” she recounted. “But later, people started calling me, saying he had given an interview. I was confused. I asked, ‘What interview? Interview for what?’ I saw things flying on the internet, and I said, ‘That is not my husband.’”

Mrs. Nwaeke revealed that she sent multiple messages to her husband, asking if he was under duress or had been kidnapped, but received no response. “Oh, Jesus, help me. Nigerians, help me. My husband is in trouble,” she cried, pleading for assistance from the public and authorities.

Her concerns surfaced just hours after Mr. Nwaeke granted an exclusive interview in which he made serious allegations against Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Among his claims, he accused the governor of backing Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed for the 2027 presidential election and allegedly encouraging militants to attack oil facilities.

In a separate video, Mrs. Nwaeke appealed directly to Governor Fubara, urging him to intervene in her husband’s case. “Governor, help me. My husband is in trouble,” she pleaded, suggesting that her husband had been forced to resign under duress.

Governor Fubara, in a swift response, dismissed Mr. Nwaeke’s allegations, suggesting he had been coerced or paid to spread falsehoods. “The truth is that Dr. Nwaeke has been compromised, and whatever he is saying is only aimed at fulfilling his promise to those who may have paid or coerced him to lie against me,” the governor stated.

To support his claim, Fubara shared screenshots of conversations allegedly between Mr. Nwaeke and his Chief of Staff, Ederson Ehie. The messages purportedly showed Mr. Nwaeke seeking financial support in exchange for loyalty, citing his N500,000 salary as inadequate.
