Plateau State Governor Explores Legal, Political Solutions for Sacked PDP Lawmakers

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, revealed on Friday that his administration is actively pursuing both legal and political avenues to address the perceived injustice faced by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers from the state. These lawmakers were recently ousted by the Court of Appeal over pre-election issues.

Governor Mutfwang made this statement during a ‘thank you’ visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The visit was prompted by President Tinubu’s perceived resistance to pressure aimed at influencing the Supreme Court’s verdict on the matter.

In a closed-door meeting with the president, Governor Mutfwang discussed not only the legal concerns but also the prevalent issue of insecurity. He assured that security agents are actively pursuing the individuals responsible for the unfortunate incident during the Christmas period.

Expressing gratitude during a press briefing after the meeting, Mutfwang acknowledged President Tinubu’s commitment to maintaining democracy without interference. He praised the president for his statesmanship and democratic values, emphasizing the importance of allowing institutions to mature independently.

Mutfwang highlighted the significance of ensuring institutions can guarantee the survival and development of democracy beyond individual leaders. Regarding the sacked PDP lawmakers, he confirmed that various options, including legal and political solutions, are being explored to chart the way forward.
