Photo: Police Recover Corpse of Gunshot Victim in Onitsha
Anambra State Police have recovered the body of a yet-to-be-identified young man who was shot and killed by suspected gunmen along the Onitsha-Owerri Expressway.
Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement on Tuesday, confirmed that officers from the Ozubulu Divisional Headquarters responded to a distress call in the early hours of January 23, 2025. Upon arrival, they found the victim’s lifeless body at the scene. Eyewitnesses reported that the young man was shot in the stomach before his attackers fled.
Ikenga called on the public to help identify the victim and provide any information that could assist with the ongoing investigation. He assured that further updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
The recovered body has been deposited in a morgue, while authorities continue their search for those responsible for the crime.
