Peter Obi: I’m Ready to Be Vice President If…………
Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State and past Labour Party presidential candidate, has expressed openness to the role of vice president if a more qualified candidate surfaces for the presidency. In an exclusive interview with New Central TV, monitored by SK Blog on YouTube, Obi emphasized his commitment to advancing Nigeria’s progress over personal political ambitions.
Obi stated, “I am not desperate to be Nigerian president. My priority is seeing Nigeria thrive. If I find someone who can perform better, I would consider taking up the vice-presidential role.”
He also addressed the possibility of his continued involvement with the Labour Party, suggesting that he would remain with the party but was open to mergers if they aligned with his vision. Obi underscored that any coalition would need to focus on critical issues such as addressing the out-of-school children crisis.
In related news, the Labour Party’s National Working Committee (NWC), led by Julius Abure, has called for investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the National Security Adviser (NSA) into allegations of campaign fund misappropriation. The NWC claims that over N12 billion and $15 million in donations were diverted, implicating Obi, activist Aisha Yesufu, Pastor Itua Ighodalo, and Afenifere leaders.
Abayomi Arabambi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, criticized the accused individuals, including Yesufu and Ighodalo, accusing them of financial misconduct. He also alleged that leaders of Afenifere, including Pa Ayo Adebanjo and others, retained substantial funds meant for the Labour Party’s 2023 campaign.
