PDP is not ready for the 2027 election – Wike
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is not prepared for the 2027 elections. Wike made the assertion during a live media interaction in Abuja on Friday, claiming that the PDP lacks the necessary structure to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Wike pointed out that opposition leaders across the country are working to form a united front against the APC, but progress has been slowed by divergent interests among key stakeholders. Despite these efforts, he emphasized that the PDP, in its current state, is not ready for the electoral contest in 2027.
He likened the situation to a student who claims to be studying for an examination but is not actually preparing. “For instance, I have an examination, and I am going to class to read. Indeed, am I reading? Am I studying? You don’t need to deceive anybody that you are reading. You are only trying to read so that people will see that you have carried your bag to class,” Wike explained.
According to him, the PDP’s power struggles will not contribute positively to its readiness for the upcoming election.
