PDP Expels Ugochinyere, Cites Indiscipline

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the member representing Ideato North/Ideato South Federal Constituency of Imo State and spokesman for the Coalition of United Political Parties, citing gross indiscipline, insubordination, and anti-party activities. The expulsion, which takes immediate effect, was confirmed in a statement issued by the Imo PDP Publicity Secretary, Lancelot Obiak.

According to the statement, Ugochinyere was expelled following a disciplinary process initiated by the PDP’s Ideato Local Government Area chapter. The expulsion was formalized in a letter dated December 5, 2024, signed by the LGA Chairman, ThankGod Okeke, and Secretary, Onyebuchi Umeh, and addressed to the State Chairman. The disciplinary committee report, dated November 27, 2024, detailed misconduct allegations against Ugochinyere, reviewed under Section 57 of the PDP Constitution (2017, as amended). The party’s executive committee in Ideato North adopted the report on December 5, 2024, leading to the expulsion decision.

The statement noted that Ugochinyere was suspended by his Umuopia/Umukegwu ward on October 14, 2024, after failing to honor multiple invitations to address allegations of indiscipline. Despite reminders and further invitations, he did not appear before the ward executive committee to respond to the charges.

Ugochinyere’s infractions included failing to participate in party meetings and activities, engaging in unauthorized publicity of internal disputes, forming parallel party structures, and making derogatory public statements against the party and its leaders. These actions were deemed violations of Sections 58(1)(e) and 58(1)(i) of the PDP Constitution, as amended. The statement emphasized that these offenses brought the party into public disrepute.
