PDP Crisis: We’ll Expel Troublemakers by May 27 – Bode George
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Bode George, has warned that members who refuse to adhere to the party’s rules and regulations will be expelled. George disclosed this during an appearance on Channels Television’s *Sunday Politics*, stating that the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) is set to take decisive action at its meeting scheduled for May 27.
According to George, many within the PDP have prioritized personal ambition over the collective interest of the party and the welfare of Nigerians. He emphasized the need for a return to the founding principles of the PDP and stressed that internal discipline is essential for the party’s survival.
George said the NEC will no longer tolerate disloyalty or anti-party activities, noting that the body holds the authority to eject members who act against its values. He expressed optimism that the meeting will serve as a turning point in restoring the PDP to its former structure and integrity.
The PDP has faced internal turmoil since the 2023 general elections, struggling to assert itself as a cohesive opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The situation has been worsened by the reluctance to sanction members who openly support the APC while remaining in the PDP. A recent example is the former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who declared his continued loyalty to the PDP while backing President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
