PDP Crisis: “If I Open My Mouth, It Won’t Be Pleasant” – Damagum Warns Party Members

In a candid address during the inauguration of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) reconciliation and disciplinary committees in Abuja on Wednesday, Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Iliya Damagum, issued a stern warning that he is being pushed to the brink, hinting at the potential for explosive revelations.

Damagum expressed deep frustration over the ongoing internal discord within the party, stating, “I have a responsibility to keep this party safe and stable, and I am prepared to take all necessary actions to ensure that stability.” He indicated that while he has refrained from speaking out until now, the situation has reached a point where he may be compelled to reveal uncomfortable truths. “When I open my mouth, I know it will not be pleasant, but that’s the price of leadership,” he said, signaling his readiness to face any backlash that may follow.

The acting chairman also took the opportunity to admonish party members who have been publicly criticizing the PDP, urging them to cease making negative comments about the party. He noted with concern, “It saddens me when our members go on television saying that the party is dying, not considering that the PDP has remained a formidable force in this country despite facing numerous crises.”

Damagum called on all members to uphold the party’s image, stressing that a true and dedicated member should always speak positively about the PDP. He also issued a pointed message to those attempting to undermine his leadership, assuring them that he would continue to fulfill his duties within the bounds of the law, as outlined in the party’s constitution.

In conclusion, Damagum reminded detractors that the National Executive Committee (NEC) remains a key pillar of the party’s governance, and he vowed not to be deterred by any efforts to destabilize his leadership.
