PDP Confirms Ude-Okoye as Legitimate National Secretary, Ends Anyanwu’s Claim
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed Sunday Ude-Okoye as the party’s authentic National Secretary, following a Court of Appeal ruling. PDP spokesperson Debo Ologunagba made this known during a press briefing at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.
Ologunagba stated that the party received the court’s judgment and is committed to adhering to the ruling. He emphasized that the PDP, as a law-abiding organization, is bound to comply with the court’s decision. According to the spokesperson, the Court of Appeal ruling on December 20, 2024, upheld a prior Enugu High Court judgment affirming Ude-Okoye’s nomination as the replacement for Senator Samuel Anyanwu.
He remarked, “As a party, we are rule-of-law compliant. We have received the judgment of the Court of Appeal affirming Rt. Hon. S.K.E. Ude-Okoye as the National Secretary of the PDP. We will take appropriate action to ensure full compliance with the law.”
The confirmation effectively puts an end to Senator Anyanwu’s claims to the position. Ude-Okoye recently declared himself the National Secretary, citing the Court of Appeal judgment as the legal basis for his position.
This decision stems from the Court of Appeal’s ruling on December 20, 2024, which affirmed Ude-Okoye as the rightful replacement for Anyanwu. With this development, the PDP moves forward under the affirmed leadership of Ude-Okoye in the role of National Secretary.
