PDP Confirms 100th NEC Meeting Will Hold as Scheduled

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed that its 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting will proceed as planned on Monday, June 30, 2025, at the NEC Hall of the Wadata Plaza, PDP National Secretariat, Abuja.

Speaking at a press conference on June 29, Deputy National Chairman (South), Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, reaffirmed that the date was unanimously approved by the NEC during its 99th meeting on May 27, 2025. He cited Section 31(3) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017), which makes the meeting date binding and prevents any organ, group, or officer of the party from altering or converting it.

The National Working Committee (NWC) dismissed a notice circulating on social media claiming that the NEC meeting had been converted into a Special Expanded National Caucus meeting. Arapaja stated clearly that such a notice did not originate from the PDP and should be ignored. He further noted that there is no provision in the PDP Constitution or guidelines for an “Expanded National Caucus,” emphasizing that any proposal for such a body is unconstitutional and cannot make decisions on behalf of the party.

The 100th NEC meeting will receive updates from the Zoning Committee and the National Convention Organizing Committee ahead of the National Convention scheduled for August 28-30, 2025.

Arapaja concluded by thanking party members for their continued support and emphasized the PDP’s commitment to the rule of law, due process, and internal democracy.
