Pastor Oyakhilome Tells Men to Take Their Wives as First Daughters, Not Mates, Gives Reasons
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome has advised men to regard their wives as their first daughters rather than just their mates, emphasizing that this perspective fosters greater understanding and patience in marriages.
Speaking to his congregation, Oyakhilome explained that when men view their wives as equals, they often set high expectations, which can lead to frustration when those expectations are not met. However, by seeing their wives as daughters, he said, men are more likely to be gracious, forgiving, and supportive.
He elaborated that adopting this mindset allows husbands to nurture their relationships with empathy rather than holding their partners to rigid standards. “Take your wife as your first daughter, more than as your mate. If you take her as your mate, you will be offended at the things she does because you expect more from her. If you take her as your daughter, you will be gracious and you will overlook all the nonsense,” he said.
