Ozigbo Falls Short as Ukachukwu Clinches APC Governorship Ticket in Anambra
Nicholas Ukachukwu has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer for the upcoming Anambra governorship election scheduled for November 2025. Ukachukwu secured the ticket after a landslide victory in the party’s primary held on Saturday, where he polled 1,455 votes to defeat his closest rival, Valentine Ozigbo, who managed just 67 votes.
The election is expected to be one of Nigeria’s major off-cycle polls, with incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo already clinching the ticket of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the ruling party in the state.
Following his victory, Ukachukwu expressed confidence in his ability to lead the APC to success in Anambra. “We shall deliver Anambra to the APC. One thing I want to say here, nobody has won the governorship of Anambra without my support; it has never happened before,” he said. “I have been playing godfatherism, but now I want to be the father of the father, no more godfather.”
