Oyo State: Certificates of Occupancy made easy

The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde at a recent gathering to handover Certificates of Occupancy to beneficiaries of an upgraded version of the “Home Owners’ Charter Digitised Certificates of Occupancy” stated that “It is the government’s responsibility to ensure that right policies are put in place to make documentation associated with home ownership quick and easy”.

He further stated that, the present approach differs from what was met on ground on assumption of office a year ago.

Furthermore, he said that, the acquisition of the new Home Owners’Charter C of O is now within 60days from the date of submission of the application form, provided there are no objections.

A Digitised platform with geoferencing, which enables home owners to confirm the true ownership of a property from anywhere in the world has been created.

This new Digitised platform, has all operating equipment and facilities funded by the Oyo State government.

All data will be domiciled on state owned servers and the security and safety of these documents are highly guaranteed.

The Governor reiterated, that a window from now till 31st of December 2020 has been opened for persons to have the privilege of owning a C of O.

The process involves, buying a scratch card of N6000 to obtain the application form. There is an offer for the first 2000 applicants to get a 15% discount on the cost of processing the C of O.

He extended the intervention to individuals in all the 33 local government areas and 35 local council development areas of Oyo State.

He advised that, persons with proper documentation to prove ownership and purpose of property will have peace of mind regarding their property.

To Entrepreneurs, he advised that the ease of obtaining legal documents is very important in making business decisions.

He concluded by stating that “It is my hope that all will take advantage of this opportunity to regularise their home ownership documents, and enjoy the peace of mind and other perks that come with legal ownership of property in Oyo State”.
