The commissioner for Home Affairs, Prince Anofiu Elegushi while fielding questions from newsmen during activities to commemorate one year in office of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu stated that Churches and Mosques in the state are to remain shut till further notice.
This he said was following disagreements over the re-opening of Churches and Mosques.
He reiterated that, several meetings had been held with religious leaders and the safety commission on the possibility of re-opening the religious houses.
He further stated that, “we all know that Lagos is still having more figures, so definitely, that will determine our decisions.”
The Federal Government had earlier lifted the lockdown on Churches and Mosques, but stated that every state had the prerogative to determine the guidelines and protocols for re-opening, if need be.
The commissioner stated that at one of the meetings held with religious leaders, some of them claimed that they cannot take responsibility of ensuring the number of persons present in their respective places of worship.
Hence, the possibility of re-opening religious houses at this time was totally ruled out.
