The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has formally welcomed his newborn son and the Olori to the palace.
An elaborate welcome ceremony was held in the Palace, with the Queen presenting the newborn Prince to the Ooni who then sat on his throne with his heir in his arms.
The Ooni welcomed the Prince, who had earlier been named Tadenikowo Adesoji Aderemi Eri-Ifeoluwasimi.
By tradition, it is forbidden for the Ooni to set his eyes on the wife and the newborn until some rites are performed, this includes the complete removal of the child’s natural hair.
It is after all these traditional rites, that the newborn and the Queen would be brought to the palace, with pomp and pageantry.
You would recall that the Ooni’s wife, Olori Silekunola, gave birth to the baby boy on Wednesday, November 18, 2020.
“The almighty will exalt him and divinely make him the best.”
