Okuama Killings: King of Ewu Kingdom Declared Wanted by DHQ Reacts

In response to being declared wanted by the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) in connection with the killing of 17 soldiers in Okuama Community, Delta State, Clement Ikolo, the wanted King of Ewu Kingdom, has vehemently proclaimed his innocence.

During an exclusive interview with TVC on Thursday, March 28, the embattled King expressed shock and disbelief at finding his name included among the wanted persons. He firmly asserted his innocence, emphasizing that he played no part in the tragic incident and did not advocate for any violence.

“I am very surprised and taken aback that my name as the monarch of the Kingdom will appear in the list of wanted persons. I have no hands in killing, I have no hands in encouraging anybody to kill anybody. It is against my philosophy as a human being and faith as a Catholic, it is against it,” the King stated emphatically.

Describing the accusations against him as a “serious crime against humanity,” Ikolo urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to identify the true perpetrators and ensure justice prevails. He highlighted ongoing efforts by the state government to mediate conflicts within the Kingdom, underscoring his commitment to peaceful resolution and governance.

“I have not been able to set up anything. I haven’t been able to set up my traditional council, I have done nothing in the Kingdom. So I barely know anything right now, I have no information, I know nothing,” Ikolo lamented, indicating the disruptions caused by the unfolding situation.
