Ohanaeze Ndigbo Declares Unwavering Support of Igbo Community for President Tinubu in Renewed Igbo-Yoruba Relations
Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has declared the unwavering support of the entire Igbo nation for the government led by President Bola Tinubu. During a courtesy visit to the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, Chief Iwuanyanwu emphasized the positive relationship between the Igbo community and Tinubu, citing the former governor’s favorable treatment of Ndigbo during his tenure.
Iwuanyanwu acknowledged that despite not voting for Tinubu in the past election, the Igbo community is now resolved to stand behind him as the President of Nigeria. He highlighted Tinubu’s nomination by the All Progressive Congress (APC) and his subsequent victories at the tribunal and Supreme Court, affirming the legitimacy of his presidency.
The Ohanaeze leader expressed the desire for justice, fairness, and equity from President Tinubu, emphasizing that the Igbo community seeks only their rightful entitlements. He assured Tinubu of the Igbo community’s loyalty and readiness to support him against any unjust opposition.
In addressing any perceived tension between the Yoruba and Igbo communities, Chief Iwuanyanwu stated unequivocally that there is no rift. He emphasized the need for mutual respect and adherence to the laws of the land, asserting that the Igbo and Yoruba are inseparable.
Responding to the Ohanaeze leader, Oba Akiolu called on the Igbo community in Lagos to respect the laws of the land while assuring them that Lagosians recognize and appreciate their hard work. The Oba urged cooperation with the Lagos government for the collective progress of the state and emphasized that anyone working for the betterment of Lagos is considered a Lagosian.
This declaration of support by Ohanaeze Ndigbo signifies a renewed commitment to fostering positive relationships between different ethnic groups in Lagos and underscores the importance of unity in the diverse Nigerian society.
