Ogun State Government Imposes N10,000 Application Fee on Job Seekers
The Ogun State government has mandated job seekers to pay a fee of N10,000 for application forms to enter its civil service. This information was revealed in a memo signed by the Permanent Secretary Commission, Jacobs R.O, on behalf of the Ogun State Civil Service Commission.
The memo specified, “Applicants are to obtain tellers from Room A261 at the Civil Service Commission for application form on payment of a non-refundable fee of ten thousand Naira (N10,000) per candidate.”
Job seekers are instructed to submit their completed application forms and other credentials to the office of the Director, Appointment and Transfer, located in Block A, Room A233, State Secretariat Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
This isn’t the first instance of such a fee; in 2021, the state government required candidates applying for positions in the fire service to pay the same amount. At that time, Governor Dapo Abiodun had authorized the recruitment of Fire Officer II, GL.08, Higher Fire Superintendent GL.08, and Medical Officer II, GL.12 into the state civil service.
A press release by Permanent Secretary Mr. Kolawole Ogunlana in 2021 announced a written examination for the positions, which was scheduled for December 6, 2021, at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. Candidates were instructed to pay the non-refundable fee and submit their forms by November 26, 2021.
