Obi Threatens LP Exit: Bwala Claims He’s Haunted by Ghost

Daniel Bwala, a former spokesman for the Atiku-Okowa presidential campaign council, has made startling remarks regarding Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate. Bwala suggested that Obi is haunted by his own creation, amidst growing tensions surrounding his threat to depart from the LP ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Obi’s ultimatum to exit the party stems from unresolved internal issues, primarily a leadership crisis between Lamidi Apapa and Julius Abure, coupled with an ownership dispute fueled by claims from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

Responding to Obi’s intentions, Bwala highlighted the challenges awaiting the former Anambra State governor, particularly in his potential transition to the Social Democratic Party (SDP). Bwala noted that the SDP does not offer automatic tickets, posing a significant obstacle for Obi, who lacks grassroots political support.

In a post on social media platform X, Bwala expressed concerns about Obi’s ability to secure backing from key political figures, suggesting that prominent statesmen prefer to support alternative candidates, potentially delaying Obi’s political aspirations.

Furthermore, Bwala revealed that Obi has initiated efforts to broaden his support base, particularly targeting northern Nigeria and Muslim communities to counter perceptions of identity politics. Despite these endeavors, foreign media outlets reportedly remain skeptical about Obi’s re-branding potential, citing analytical assessments of his electoral viability.

Additionally, Obi faces resistance from his loyal support base, referred to as the ‘Obedient’ people, who adamantly oppose any merger that could jeopardize his presidential ambitions, leaving Obi caught between conflicting interests.
