Obi Returns to Public Life with Factory Visit After Brief Health Break
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has returned to public engagements after a brief break on health grounds. Obi had disclosed last weekend that he was suspending activities within and outside Nigeria following an illness during a tourism event in Enugu, where he was treated in hospital and advised to rest for at least two days.
On Monday, the former Anambra governor announced his return with a visit to Maison de Helen (MDH), a luxury fashion brand in Lagos founded by designer Helen Unuane. In a post on X, he expressed gratitude to supporters who sent him well-wishes, describing MDH as proof of how Nigerian creativity and enterprise can resonate globally.
Obi praised the workers’ dedication and reiterated his commitment to promoting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as a pathway to shift Nigeria from consumption to production. He emphasized that SMEs remain the backbone of every economy and could serve as engines to lift millions out of poverty while positioning Nigeria as a hub for creativity and trade.
Obi is among the presidential hopefuls under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
