NYPD Detective Who Appeared as Stripper in Viral Rap Video Pulled from Active Sex Crime Cases

Detective Melissa Mercado, the NYPD officer who drew viral attention for dancing provocatively in a music video, has been removed from active sex crimes cases as the department launches a review into her off-duty conduct.

Sources confirm that Mercado, known for her solid investigative work, is no longer handling cases within the Special Victims Unit while the internal probe is underway. The NYPD is investigating whether she followed proper protocol regarding secondary employment, as officers are required to file official paperwork for any outside work they take on while off-duty.

It has not yet been determined whether Mercado violated department policy by appearing in rapper S-Quire’s “Doin That” music video, where she was featured in a bra and G-string, twerking in a club, lounging in a VIP section, and posing in lingerie on a bed. The New York Post was the first to report the ongoing review.

S-Quire and the video’s director, Pitch Perfect, told TMZ that Mercado was referred to them through a casting agency and that they were unaware she was a police officer at the time of filming.

The NYPD has not yet released an official statement regarding the situation.
