Nwoko Family Disowns Man in Viral Video, Calls His Claims Fabricated

The Nwoko family of Idumuje-Ugboko has rejected the claims of a man identified as Chuks Nwoko, whose viral social-media video accused Senator Ned Nwoko of neglect and misconduct. In a statement released in Abuja, the family said Chuks has no ancestral or genealogical link to the Nwoko royal lineage and dismissed his allegations as fabrications aimed at stirring controversy.

Chuks had described himself as the senator’s brother and criticised the lawmaker over personal and family matters, claiming abandonment, betrayal, and behaviour that, according to him, brought disrepute to the family name. He also alleged a strained relationship dating back years and made further claims about the senator’s background, his marriage to Regina Daniels, and his educational history.

Responding, Michael Nwoko, a cousin of the senator and his Chief of Staff, said Chuks’ assertions were built on falsehood. He noted that the man’s paternal roots were from western Nigeria, making his claim to the Idumuje-Ugboko royal family unfounded. He described the video as a calculated attempt to exploit the senator’s public profile and attract attention through misinformation.

Michael highlighted the senator’s long record of contributions to his community, including scholarships, infrastructure projects, youth programmes, and sports initiatives. He also pointed to his active role in the 10th Senate, where he has sponsored more than 30 bills and advanced motions focused on national development.

The family reaffirmed its support for the senator, insisting that Chuks does not represent them and has no authority to speak on their behalf. They said such online attacks would not distract the lawmaker from his work and that those spreading misleading narratives would ultimately lose relevance.

According to the family, the senator remains committed to public service, driven by purpose and a record that continues to reflect in the lives and communities he has impacted.
