NTA Driver Stabbed to Death by Suspected Phone Snatchers in Abuja

A driver for the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) has been tragically stabbed to death by suspected phone snatchers in Abuja’s Central Business District. The incident occurred on Monday night near Sahad Stores supermarket, close to the CBN Junction.

The victim, identified as Yahuza Sani, was returning to the office around 9 p.m. after dropping off a staff member when he stopped to address a car issue near the supermarket. While attempting to fix the vehicle, he was attacked by the assailants who fatally stabbed him. The attackers fled with his phone but left his car keys behind, according to an NTA source.

Yahuza Sani, a contract driver with NTA News24 for nearly four years, was a 38-year-old father of three from Batsari LGA, Katsina State, and resided in Keffi, Nasarawa State. His remains were laid to rest at Gudu Cemetery in Abuja on Tuesday evening.

Efforts to reach the FCT police command for comments on the case were unsuccessful, with spokesperson Josephine Ade unavailable for comment.

In response to the incident, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) Abuja Branch extended its condolences to NTA and urged the FCT Commissioner of Police to increase surveillance across high-risk areas in Abuja to combat rising criminal activities.
