Pro-Suicide Site Revealed by BBC Investigation: 700+ Britons Advertise for Suicide Partners

In a shocking revelation, a BBC investigation has uncovered a disturbing trend involving a pro-suicide website, where over 700 individuals in the UK have actively sought partners to end their lives with. The site, which remains unnamed, features a ‘partners thread’ dedicated to facilitating such connections, and has been linked to multiple instances of double suicides.

Among the troubling cases reported, the investigation highlights the tragic story of Brett, a 28-year-old from the Midlands, who traveled to Scotland in December 2019 to meet a woman from the site. The pair ultimately took their lives together in an Airbnb. Brett’s mother, Angela Stevens, has since dedicated herself to exposing the dangers of the site, describing it as a perilous environment akin to a sinister dating app.

The ‘partners thread’ on the site contains over 5,000 posts globally, offering guidance on suicide methods and fostering connections among those seeking to end their lives. A previous BBC investigation in March linked the site’s promotion of a specific chemical to over 130 UK deaths, though details were withheld to prevent further harm.

The investigation also revealed predatory practices on the site, with individuals exploiting vulnerable users. In one case, Craig McInally, a 31-year-old from Glasgow, was found guilty of manipulating young women into dangerous situations under the guise of offering support. His victims included 22-year-old Romanian student Roberta Barbos, who declined further contact after meeting McInally and later took her own life in February 2020.

Helen Kite, whose sisters Linda and Sarah both fell victim to the site, described the forum as a platform that “preys on desperate souls.” Linda, who sought a suicide partner in 2023, died with a man she met through the forum, followed by Sarah’s tragic death later the same year.
