NSCDC Seeks Public Assistance to Reunite Lost 8-Year-Old Boy with Family in Anambra

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Anambra State is seeking help to locate the family of an eight-year-old boy, Divine Chisimdi Onyejiaka, who was discovered wandering in Awka. The child was reportedly trying to avoid being disciplined by his mother.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Head of Media and Tactical Operations for the NSCDC Anambra Command, Okadigbo Edwin, revealed that Onyejiaka was brought to the command headquarters on December 20 by a concerned citizen. The boy, who is a resident of Okpoko in Ogbaru Local Government Area and a pupil at St. Raphael Nursery/Primary School, was found without any clear destination.

The statement described Onyejiaka as approximately three feet tall, fair in complexion, and without any tribal marks. Preliminary investigations indicate that the boy fled from home after an incident involving his mother, Mrs. Nnenna Onyejiaka. However, the circumstances surrounding how he traveled from Okpoko to Awka remain unclear, as he has been unable to provide a coherent account.

Efforts to locate the boy’s parents or relatives have so far been unsuccessful. He is currently under the care of the NSCDC’s Anti-Human Trafficking Unit in Anambra, awaiting identification by his family.

The NSCDC has called on the public to assist in reuniting the child with his loved ones. Anyone with information about Divine Chisimdi Onyejiaka’s family is urged to contact the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit or the Media and Tactical Ops Unit at the NSCDC Anambra State Command via 08035771835.
