“Not the Party of My Dreams, I Regret Supporting APC” – M.I

Popular Nigerian rapper Jude Abaga, known as M.I, has expressed regret over his past support for the All Progressives Congress (APC). The acclaimed artist, famous for his hit track ‘African Rapper NO 1,’ revealed he backed the APC in 2015 because he believed the then-ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was corrupt.

Speaking on the Menism podcast, M.I admitted the APC had fallen short of his expectations and was not the party he had envisioned. He said he had initially supported the party to help strengthen Nigeria’s democracy but has been disappointed by its performance.

“I tweeted about the thing \[herdsmen attacks] that happened in Benue and a lot of people were saying, ‘But M.I, you supported the APC,'” he explained. “Yes, I supported APC because at that time, I felt that the PDP government was very corrupt. I was part of the people who lifted my voice to say, ‘Let us stand and bring in democracy.'”

M.I acknowledged that while people strive to make the right choices, they sometimes end up being wrong. He emphasized that he is now focused on using his influence and talent to work with other young Nigerians in building a better future for the country.
