In an interview with BBC Hausa, Kwankwaso criticized these leaders for claiming to represent the North while promoting unqualified candidates and fostering division. “This oppressive behavior is creating discord in our communities. Elders in the North, some of whom are our parents and brothers, should avoid favoritism when supporting candidates. Decisions must be based on truth and integrity,” he said.

He urged Northern leaders to refrain from misleading the public and instead focus on promoting unity and democratic principles.
