No Need to Probe Service Chiefs – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has affirmed his stance against probing the Service Chiefs, emphasizing the importance of respecting institutional integrity. Speaking on Monday while addressing questions about the use of funds allocated to tackle terrorism and other security challenges, the President expressed satisfaction with the performance of the country’s security leadership.

Tinubu highlighted the critical role of investment in technology, weaponry, and training for military operations. “You cannot disrespect the institutions because of the threat of a probe,” he stated. “You cannot fight this war without investment in technology, in weaponry, and training.”

Acknowledging the complexities of managing Nigeria’s vast and challenging terrain, the President urged recognition of the efforts of service personnel. “Consider the welfare of our servicemen and women; they are operating in very serious conditions. We have a very large country with extensive forests and unoccupied spaces. Give them credit for what they are doing.”

Tinubu further noted the implementation of robust control mechanisms to oversee budget allocations and ensure effective fund utilization. While acknowledging minor inefficiencies, he dismissed the need for a full-scale investigation. “There may be leakages here and there, not wholesale. We have put a very effective control mechanism in place to monitor our budget releases, and those funds are being judiciously used,” he said.

The President concluded by reiterating his pride in the security forces and their current achievements. “I am proud of what they are doing today. No need to probe.”
