JUST IN: Tinubu in Closed-Door Meeting with Service Chiefs Ahead of Rome Visit
**Tinubu Holds Closed-Door Meeting with Service Chiefs Ahead of Rome Visit**
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently in a closed-door meeting with Nigeria’s Service Chiefs and the Inspector General of Police at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. In attendance are the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa; Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla; and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
While the agenda of the meeting has not been made public, it is believed to be connected to the recent uptick in insecurity across several regions of the country, particularly in the North, where security forces have been battling renewed insurgent activities.
The high-level meeting comes just a day before President Tinubu is expected to travel to Rome for the inauguration mass of Pope Leo XIV. The President will be attending the event at the invitation of the Vatican, joining other world leaders and senior Catholic figures in marking the start of the new pontificate.
Presidential Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that Tinubu will be part of the delegation at the historic event, which signifies a major moment for the global Catholic community amid ongoing international challenges.
Accompanying the President to Rome will be Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, along with prominent Nigerian Catholic leaders including Archbishop Lucius Ugorji, Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama, Archbishop Alfred Martins, and Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah.
