“No Government Has Achieved What Tinubu Has in Two Years” – Information Minister

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has declared that the first two years of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration have delivered unprecedented reforms and achievements unmatched by any previous government in Nigeria’s democratic history.

Speaking at the inaugural National Dialogue on Citizen Engagement and National Security held Tuesday in Abuja, Idris described the administration’s progress as a product of visionary and courageous leadership. The event, themed “One Voice, One Vision: Uniting Perspectives for a Stronger Nigeria,” brought together stakeholders from government, media, civil society, and the security sector.

Highlighting the administration’s accomplishments, Idris said President Tinubu has taken bold steps that previous administrations avoided, including the removal of the fuel subsidy and dismantling of the foreign exchange monopoly. He also pointed to investments in infrastructure, the rollout of a national student loan scheme, the establishment of CreditCorp, and renewed youth engagement as major milestones.

According to the minister, despite a challenging start, the nation is beginning to witness tangible improvements. He cited a downward trend in food prices, growing local government autonomy, and enhanced efforts in agriculture, notably through the creation of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development. These, he noted, reflect a clear shift in governance impact at the grassroots level.

Idris emphasized that the President’s leadership is winning public confidence. “With President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the voices are audibly uniting in further support of a man of vision and courage,” he stated.

He stressed that national security is deeply tied to national unity, which itself depends on trust between the government and the people. “In times of uncertainty and insecurity, our greatest weapon is not force. It is trust between the governed and those who govern,” he said.

The minister concluded by urging participants to carry forward the dialogue’s spirit beyond ideas into concrete commitments—to truth in media, equity in policy, transparency in governance, and compassion in communities.
