Nigerian Woman Arrested with Cocaine Worth Over N254 Million in India
A 34-year-old Nigerian woman, Yenna Christina Idowu, has been arrested in Mumbai, India, after she was found in possession of cocaine worth over N254 million. The arrest was made by the Versova police in the early hours of Monday, June 30, 2025, following a tip-off from the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS).
Officers had spotted Idowu behaving suspiciously around 3AM in the Old MHADA area of Andheri West. A search of her bag, conducted in the presence of a female officer, led to the discovery of 30 capsules containing a total of 418 grams of cocaine. The drugs are estimated to have a street value of Rs1.42 crore.
During interrogation, Idowu stated that she is originally from Ondo, Nigeria, but currently resides in Noida, New Delhi. Authorities have since launched an in-depth investigation to trace the origins of the drugs and identify the intended recipients.
She has been charged under multiple sections of India’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and remains in police custody as further legal proceedings continue.
