Lagos Man Dies by Suicide After Allegedly Attacking Girlfriend with Acid
A tragic incident unfolded in Lagos Island on the evening of Monday, June 30, 2025, when a 43-year-old man, Pere Faruk, allegedly poured acid on his girlfriend during a domestic dispute before taking his own life shortly afterward.
According to reports shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred around 5:40 p.m. at No. 8 Messy Street. Faruk’s younger brother, Pere Jeli, who lives nearby at No. 9 Igbosere Street, was alerted and raised the alarm.
The victim, identified as Kemi Bashiru, sustained severe burns and was quickly rushed to the Lagos Island General Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment.
Faruk was later found unresponsive in his room with a bottle of Sniper insecticide beside him, suggesting he died by suicide. His body was transported to a hospital and subsequently deposited at a public mortuary for autopsy. Responders also documented the scene.
Authorities have launched an investigation to uncover the full details surrounding the incident and what may have led to the violent altercation.
