Nigerian Troops Ambush Kebbi Terrorists, Rescue 17 Kidnapped Victims
In a swift and timely operation, the Quick Response Force (QRF) of the Joint Task Force North West Operation HADARIN DAJI deployed in Malekachi, Kebbi state, has successfully rescued 17 individuals who were kidnapped by terrorists. The operation also resulted in the capture of operational motorcycles used by the assailants.
The daring rescue unfolded in the early hours of October 12, 2023, when troops from Operation HADARIN DAJI stationed in Malekachi received a distress call. The alert indicated that a group of terrorists had abducted an unspecified number of people in Kanya village, located in the Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi state. These criminals were attempting to transport their captives towards Niger state.
With utmost urgency, the troops mobilized and strategically laid an ambush along the suspected routes and crossing point that the terrorists intended to use in Karenbana village.
A fierce exchange of gunfire followed, with the Nigerian troops demonstrating their firepower superiority. This forced the terrorists to abandon their victims and flee, leaving behind 17 individuals who had been held captive.
Among the rescued victims were 6 females and 11 males, including a police officer who had been kidnapped in Danko-Wasagu. The liberated individuals were subsequently handed over to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Bena, facilitating their reunion with their families. Additionally, the troops recovered five motorcycles used by the terrorists, which had been set ablaze on-site.
Major General Godwin Mutkut, the Commander of the Joint Task Force North West Operation HADARIN DAJI, praised the troops for their swift response and exceptional dedication to the mission. He urged them to remain vigilant and resolute, ensuring that the terrorists are denied any freedom of action within the region. Major General Mutkut also expressed gratitude for the crucial information provided by local residents, emphasizing that their cooperation had played a vital role in the successful rescue operation. He urged the community to continue reporting any suspicious activities by the terrorists to the military for prompt action.
