Nigerian Soldiers on the frontline cry out for help
Nigerian soldiers fighting insurgency in the North East are being killed in large numbers.
Pictures have emerged of a large number of dead Nigerian soldiers as well as a list of top ranking officers killed, abducted by boko haram or wounded in action in the last few months.
Soldiers are being sent to the theatre of war without armoured personel carriers. Instead they are being shipped in the danger zone with hilux pickup trucks.
Just last week 180 soldiers are believed to have been killed while around 60 are missing.
The military as usual denied that this was true, but Boko Haram later released evidence of their victories.
Soldiers on the front line say they are not battle weary and are ready to defend Nigeria, but they are too ill equipped for the battle against insurgents.
The soldiers other concern is that this is rainy season and as such the terrain is hard if not impossible to navigate.
Two generals Araba and Onubogu have been named for pushing this agenda without consideration for the safety of the soldiers.
One of those leading the troops had written to the generals as follows:
Sir,
1. *Terrorist Ambush.* At about 071410A Jul 20, troops of Sector 2 were ambushed by suspected terrorists at Bulabulin in Damboa LGA. Two x Reinforcement teams were dispatched to the scene. the first team confirmed the details at the scene while the second team linked – up and returned to the camp. *OWN CAS. KIA.* 23 x soldiers. *WIA.* One x 2 soldiers. *MIA.* Uncfm. *EQPT CAS.* Uncfm. *BHT CAS* Uncfm. However, the wia are currently being stabilized at the Bde FD AMB while sar op ongoing. Further details later.
2. Advance into the Timbuktu Triangle is becoming cumbersome now that rains is in top gear. Coincidentally, terrorist elements have reinforced their defences to halt the advance and any military incursions into the area. Unfortunately, troops ambush by daylight shows the level of preparations by ISWA and should not be taken lightly. Troops were also ambushed at Komala axis on 271400A Jun 20 and one x 11 soldiers killed while escorting commuter vehicles. The loss is unbearable but tells more of needed aggressive posture needed to counter the terrorists. Please note number of IED incidents have also increased suggesting ISWA/JAS are initiating all available means to frustrate troops incursions. As such, it is requested that air raids are initiated within Damboa axes to hit hard and neutralise reinforced terrorist camps and what they may have carted away. This could also soften grounds for counter offensives by troops of OpLD.
3. Respectfully forwarded for your information and necessary action, Sir
The generals ignored his concerns and ordered that the men must continue the mission regardless.
