Nigerian Police Apprehend Seven Infamous Kidnappers in Abuja, Recover N9 Million in Ransom
The Nigerian Police Force, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Abuja, has successfully arrested seven notorious kidnappers and retrieved a substantial sum of N9 million in cash, believed to be ransom money. The announcement was made by Commissioner of Police in FCT, CP Benneth Igweh, who presented the suspects at the command headquarters on Wednesday.
CP Benneth Igweh revealed that the apprehension was executed by the Utako police division, under the leadership of CSP Victor Godfrey, in a well-coordinated operation spanning Tudun–Wada Lugbe and Pyakasa areas of Trademore. The arrested individuals were identified as Usman Muazu, Aliyu Mohammed, Awwal Dahiru, Rabi Sani, Madina Abubakar, Jonah Elimelech, Saminu Idris, and Mariji Iliya, hailing from various regions across Nigeria.
Additionally, the police disclosed the arrest of 79 other suspects during raids on several black spots within Trademore, Galadimawa, Maitama, and Gwagwalada in the FCT. CP Benneth Igweh emphasized that the raids aimed to cleanse the FCT of criminal activities, with officers seizing substances suspected to be Indian hemp and illicit drugs from the suspects, who are currently undergoing interrogation.
The police commissioner assured that those found guilty would be charged accordingly.
