Nigeria Police Suspend AIG Abduyari Lafia, Halt Salary Pending Disciplinary Review
The Nigeria Police Force has suspended Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Abduyari Shuaya’u Lafia from duty, effective January 9, 2025. The decision, approved by the Police Service Commission (POLSCOM), was conveyed in an official communication dated January 10, 2025, and signed by the Force Secretary.
In a wireless message distributed to all departments, units, and commands, the Force Headquarters instructed Lafia to comply with all regulations governing the conduct of officers under suspension while his case is reviewed by the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC). The directive also instructed the Assistant Inspector General of Police Budget and Payment to take immediate action to halt his salary.
The official communication, titled “Suspension and Interdiction AP. NO. 41804 AIG Abduyari Shuaya’u Lafia,” cited the Police Service Commission’s letter, reference PSC/CHR/IGP/VOL.5/018, dated January 9, 2025. The suspension was enacted under the provisions of PSR 100406, 2021 (as amended).
Lafia had been serving as the AIG in charge of the Force Intelligence Bureau at the Force Headquarters in Abuja since February 2023.
