Nigeria Beats Senegal to Reach Women’s Afrobasket Final
Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, defeated Senegal 75–68 on Saturday to book their place in the final of the 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket. The semi-final clash at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Côte d’Ivoire tested the resolve of the defending champions, who had to battle back from an early deficit.
Senegal started strong with an 11–2 run in the first three minutes and held an eight-point lead going into the fourth quarter. But D’Tigress responded with a dominant final period, overturning the gap and outplaying their opponents by 15 points in the last quarter to secure the win.
The victory moves Nigeria one step closer to a historic fifth consecutive Afrobasket title. They will face the winner of the other semi-final between Mali and South Sudan in the final.
