JUST IN: CAF Strips Senegal of AFCON 2025 Title, Crowns Morocco Champions
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has stripped Senegal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title following a ruling by its Appeal Board.
In a statement issued Tuesday, CAF said Senegal forfeited the final after leaving the pitch, an action that violates tournament regulations.
The ruling overturns the initial result of the match and awards a 3–0 victory to Morocco. Consequently, the Morocco national football team has been declared the official winner of AFCON 2025.
CAF said the decision was made in line with Article 84 of its competition rules, confirming the match as a forfeiture in favour of the Moroccan Football Federation.
The Senegal national football team has yet to respond publicly to the development.
