JUST IN: Unstoppable D’Tigress Crush Mali to Claim Fifth Straight AfroBasket Title
Nigeria’s D’Tigress have reaffirmed their dominance in African women’s basketball, defeating Mali in the final of the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket Championship to retain their continental crown. The championship, hosted in Ivory Coast, saw the Nigerian team put on a commanding performance to clinch their fifth straight title.
The final began with intensity as Mali edged the first quarter 26–21, momentarily unsettling the defending champions. However, D’Tigress quickly found their rhythm and fought back to level the score at 41–41 by halftime. The Nigerian side turned up the heat in the third quarter, taking firm control of the game and never looking back.
Despite Mali’s efforts to rally in the final quarter, D’Tigress maintained their composure and closed out the game with a 78–64 victory. This win marks a historic fifth consecutive AfroBasket title for Nigeria, further cementing their status as the top team in African women’s basketball.
