Ned Nwoko Clarifies Regina Daniels’ Age at Marriage, Alleges Drug Abuse Led to Her School Dropout
Senator Ned Nwoko has addressed ongoing controversy surrounding the age of his wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, at the time of their marriage.
In a statement released by the Communication and Technical Action Team from his office, the lawmaker representing Delta North Senatorial District stated that Regina was 19 years old—not 17—when they got married six years ago.
“For clarity, Regina Daniels was born on October 10, 2000. If she has been married for six years, that means she got married at 19, not 17,” the statement read. “Our customs do not condemn polygamy. I married her properly, gave her a name, and treated her with dignity.”
Nwoko described their union as open and transparent, insisting that he has always shown her love and respect. He accused his political rivals of exploiting Regina to discredit him.
“It is disheartening to read all this filth online. Regina has become a weak point through which my political and personal enemies attack me. My decision to marry her properly is now being twisted into political blackmail,” he said.
The senator further claimed that Regina and her sister had a history of drug use, alleging that both were expelled from school because of substance abuse.
“The world has seen her own accounts of substance use, and her former schoolmates have confirmed that she and her sister dropped out due to drug issues,” Nwoko stated. “She admitted to using drugs and said she was on bipolar medication. Her medical records are verifiable.”
He accused unnamed individuals of manipulating Regina to smear his image, calling the recent allegations against him “fabricated lies” and “criminal defamation.”
“If she had any secrets to reveal, she would have done so,” Nwoko asserted. “Those spreading these falsehoods will have their day to prove their claims.”
