NAFDAC waiting for Covid-19 vaccine manufacturers to apply for approval – DG
The Director General of NAFDAC Prof Mojisola Adeyeye has said that none of the manufacturers of the Covid-19 vaccine have applied for approval in Nigeria.
This proves fears that the federal government task force on Covid-19 is asleep on the wheel as it demonstrates incompetence and inability to proactively manage a critical situation.
Professor Adeyeye also warned Nigerians to beware of those peddling fake vaccines online and reiterated that no vaccine as been approved for use by NAFDAC.
She revealed that many of the vaccines online carry the brand names of those approved by the WHO. She warned Nigerians to be diligent and alert as using fake vaccines can cause serious harm and even death.
She ended the press briefing with a firm warning: “Covid-19 vaccines are new and the side effects must be monitored. If NAFDAC does not approve, the public must not use”.
