N200 Bribe: Yobe Police Inspector Stabs Man to Death

A tragic incident occurred in Damaturu, Yobe State, when a police inspector reportedly stabbed a man to death following a dispute over a N200 bribe. The officer, identified as Inspector Mohammed Bulama of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) 41 Division, has been arrested for allegedly killing Abdulmalik Pompomari, a suspected drug dealer.

The confrontation took place on Sunday, September 29, 2024, around 5:05 PM in the CMC Area of Zango, Damaturu. Eyewitnesses claim that the altercation began when Bulama demanded N200 from the victim, which Abdulmalik refused to pay. The situation escalated, leading to Bulama allegedly stabbing Abdulmalik in the neck and chest, resulting in his death.

Confirming the incident, Yobe State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, said an investigation had been launched under the orders of the Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Ahmed. According to the PPRO, the disagreement between Bulama and Abdulmalik quickly turned violent, culminating in the fatal stabbing.

Bulama also sustained injuries during the altercation and reportedly sought refuge at the ‘C’ Division Police Headquarters, where he was subsequently arrested. The Yobe State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has taken over the case, and Bulama remains in custody pending internal disciplinary action and further prosecution.
