Mysterious Disappearance: Woman Vanishes with Two Children in Benue, Prompting Police Investigation
An unidentified woman has vanished with two innocent children, Philomena Kpaakpa, aged 4, and Benedict Kpaakpa, aged 2, in the heart of Makurdi, Benue State. The distressing incident unfolded in front of the children’s home as their mother briefly left them unattended to attend an early morning mass, leaving the neighborhood in shock and despair.
According to our correspondent’s investigation, the unknown woman approached the kiosk where the children’s mother operated a small business selling local snacks and guinea corn drink (kunu). Reports suggest that the stranger purchased a snack from the youngsters, but her actions took a sinister turn when she claimed to have no change for the transaction. Seemingly innocently, she requested the children’s assistance in retrieving the money for the snack from a nearby location.
This fateful decision marked the beginning of the children’s harrowing ordeal, as they were led away from their residence by the enigmatic woman, who has since disappeared without a trace. Concerned residents and family friends, including Tica Saviour, have rallied together, and the incident was promptly reported to the local police authorities at the B Police division.
Saviour shed light on the sequence of events, stating, “The children were not kidnapped in the church, as some people put it, but from their residence close to the church. Their mother went for Sunday morning mass in her church located close to the house. She operates a small kiosk where she sells guinea corn drink (kunu) and other local snacks and left the children to look after the business. So, this lady came with N500 and purchased a sesame of N50. There was no change, and the lady asked the children to come along with her to the roadside to get the N50, and that was how she disappeared with them.”
The heart-wrenching incident has left the community in turmoil, anxiously awaiting the safe return of Philomena and Benedict. Authorities are actively pursuing leads and conducting a thorough investigation into the disappearance. In a brief text message, SP Catherine Anene, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Benue Command, confirmed the ongoing investigation, stating, “Yes, it has been reported, and investigation is ongoing.”
As the search intensifies and hope remains the beacon for their return, the community and concerned individuals are fervently praying for the safe reunion of these two young souls with their distraught family.
