Murdered Sokoto Monarch’s Son Released After ₦60 Million, 5 Motorcycles, Other Items Were Paid as Ransom
The son of the late District Head of Gatawa, in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, has been freed by his abductors following the payment of a ₦60 million ransom and the delivery of five motorcycles.
The district head, Alhaji Isa Bawa, was kidnapped about a month ago but tragically passed away while in captivity. His son, Surajo Isa, confirmed to Daily Trust that his brother was released by the bandits around 8:30 p.m. on the day of his return.
Surajo also revealed the distressing news that their father had been buried by the bandits in the bush after his death, as recounted by his released brother.
The situation has drawn widespread sorrow, including from Hon. Aminu Boza, a member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, who confirmed the release and the unfortunate demise of the district head. He further disclosed that the monarch’s son, Alhaji Kabir Isa, is currently receiving treatment at Usman Danfodio Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) in Sokoto.
“We learned that the late Emir was buried in the morning,” Boza stated, expressing deep sadness over the loss and the reality that the Emir will never be seen again.
