Mass Defection Hits APC as Members Join ADC in Sokoto
A wave of defections has hit the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, as many of its members in Gada Local Government Area have abandoned the ruling party for the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The defectors were formally received on Sunday by Senator Abubakar Gada, a prominent figure in the ADC coalition, who described their move as a sign of growing dissatisfaction with the APC-led government.
Senator Gada said Nigerians, particularly in Sokoto East, are grappling with worsening insecurity and economic hardship that have crippled farming, reduced job opportunities, and disrupted food supply chains. He noted that the collapse of farming, the main source of livelihood in the region, has fueled poverty, unemployment, and hunger across communities.
He stressed that the influx of new members into the ADC is evidence of Nigerians’ readiness to embrace change and support a party they believe can address the nation’s pressing challenges. According to him, the APC government has failed to deliver on its promises, leaving citizens to seek alternative platforms that can restore hope and stability.
“Many Nigerians are coming to ADC because they believe in our mission to rescue the country,” Gada said, adding that the party stands as a credible option for those disillusioned by the APC’s performance.
