Masari replaces Uzodimma as APC convention committee chairman

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, as Chairman of the National Convention Central Coordination Committee for its March 27–28, 2026 national convention, replacing Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma.

The change was announced in a statement signed by the party’s National Secretary, Surajudeen Basiru, and shared on the APC’s official X account on Friday.

According to the statement, the committee was reconstituted after consultations with party leaders and stakeholders. Sub-committees will be announced later.

Uzodimma, who had earlier been named committee chairman, has been reassigned as treasurer under the new structure.

The APC also increased the committee’s membership from 73 to 90, adding more party figures, including Senator Barry Mpigi.

Under the revised arrangement, former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim will serve as Vice Chairman I, while Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, takes the role of Vice Chairman II. Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni remains secretary of the committee.

The adjustments come days after Uzodimma was announced as chair of the initial 73-member committee, as the party steps up preparations for the convention, where new members of the National Working Committee are expected to be elected.
