Man Who Collected ₦30k to Lure Neighbor’s Son to His Death Arrested
The Delta State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Destiny Lawrence for his involvement in the abduction and murder of an eight-year-old boy, Progress Ifeanyi, whose organs were reportedly harvested by a native doctor.
The state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, disclosed the tragic incident while addressing journalists. He explained that on December 23, the father of the deceased, a native of Owa-Alero, reported his son missing. The father, whose name was withheld, said his son was last seen with Destiny Lawrence, a familiar customer at their shop.
After raising the alarm about his missing child, the grieving father confronted Lawrence, who initially denied knowing the boy’s whereabouts. However, later that day, the lifeless body of Progress was discovered in an uncompleted building, with several body parts missing.
During police interrogation, Lawrence confessed that a native doctor named Jonah, from Otolokpo community, had paid him ₦30,000 to lure a young boy. Lawrence admitted to luring Progress to a location where the native doctor was waiting. The native doctor then took the boy to an uncompleted building and killed him by slitting his throat.
CP Abaniwonda confirmed that Lawrence is in police custody while a manhunt for the native doctor is underway. Investigations are ongoing to ensure justice for the victim and his family.
