Man Flees After Girlfriend Found Dead in Lagos Apartment

A young man has gone into hiding after his girlfriend, identified simply as Adija, was found dead in his apartment in the Meiran area of Lagos State. Adija, a graduate of Lagos State University, was discovered lifeless on February 26 after visiting the apartment at the request of her boyfriend, whose identity remains unknown.

The tragic discovery was made after Adija’s family grew worried when she stopped responding to phone calls. According to an Instagram user, @Eyeopener, who shared the incident online, the victim had informed her family of her visit to her boyfriend’s house. When they failed to reach her the next day, they went to the residence and forced the door open, only to find her body on the bed, covered with a duvet.

@Eyeopener revealed that the couple had been in a long-term but troubled relationship since Adija’s first year in university. The victim, who lived with her family in Ketu, was said to spend most weekdays at her boyfriend’s place. On the night of the incident, neighbours allegedly heard a commotion in the apartment but did not intervene, assuming it was another routine quarrel between the two.

Following the discovery, the boyfriend fled and has not been seen since. When contacted, Adija’s family declined to comment publicly, with her sister stating they would speak to the press at a more appropriate time. However, a close family member, Tosin, described Adija as easy-going and revealed that her mother, a single parent, had worked hard to raise and educate her children. Tosin also mentioned that the suspect had reportedly called Adija’s mother after the incident, stating that he was “ready to die too.”

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the case, with spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin stating that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect.

This incident follows a similar case recently reported by SK Blog, in which a man allegedly stabbed his wife to death in Ogun State. The Ogun State Police Command is currently in pursuit of the suspect.
