Miyetti Allah Leader Shot Dead in Kwara
Gunmen have killed the leader of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Kwara State, Alhaji Idris Abubakar Sakaina. The attack took place late Saturday night in front of his residence in Oke Ose, Ilorin.
Sources say the assailants struck around 10:00 pm, shooting Sakaina and leaving him in a pool of blood without taking any of his belongings. “Their motive remains unclear,” a source said.
A witness, Aina’u Sarki, revealed that she had spoken with the victim just 20 minutes before the attack. “Someone called me on the phone and told me he had been shot dead,” she said.
The Special Assistant to the Governor on Inter-Community Relations (Fulani), Muhammed Abdullahi, confirmed the killing and said preparations for Sakaina’s burial were underway. He also stated that the police had visited the scene and begun investigations.
Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, was contacted but had yet to respond at the time of this report.
The deceased, aged 32, was a former Special Assistant to the Moro Local Government Chairman and a well-known youth leader among the Fulani community in Kwara.
