Man Dies While Rescuing Goat from Well in Oyo
The Oyo State Fire Service has recovered two bodies from separate wells in the state, including a man who died while trying to save a goat.
The first victim, 45, whose name has not been released, was trapped in a deep well in Mokola, Saki West Local Government Area, on Monday evening. Fire Service officials responded promptly after receiving a distress call at 10:23 PM. The man reportedly entered the well to rescue a goat but became trapped and later died.
The second incident occurred on Tuesday morning in the Aaje Ikose area of Ogbomoso North Local Government Area. Thirty-year-old Shina Adedeji fell into a well while attempting to retrieve a fetcher. Fire officers recovered his body from the well, which contained ammonia gas.
Moroof Akinwande, Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Fire Reforms and Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, urged residents to prioritize safety during daily activities, emphasizing that life is irreplaceable.
This follows a similar incident on January 25, when a 33-year-old man died after becoming trapped in an abandoned well at a Rain Oil Filling Station in Alakia–Adegbayi, Ibadan.
